Relationship anxiety

What is relationship anxiety?

Relationship anxiety refers to any stress or conflict related to a romantic or intimate relationship. We all have occasional worry, fear or doubt about our relationship sometimes. Relationship anxiety becomes unhealthy when it is constant or persistent - the joy of being with your partner changes to being in perpetual stress.  Relationship anxiety signs may include constant worrying, overthinking, insecurity, confusion, being controlling, needing constant reassurance. Maybe you self sabotage - you prioritise freedom over a relationship or perfectionism and the relationship or you is never perfect enough. oEmotional symptoms include anger, grief, jealousy or nervousness.  We may also experience unpleasant physical sensations, such as racing heart, dizziness or being sick. We are likely to experience relationship instability.

What is relationship anxiety disorder?

Relationship anxiety disorder is a  persistent fear, doubt, or insecurity about our relationship or our partner, even when there is no real reason for concern. This shows itself through our behaviour, how we are feeling and the things we say. We may act out of character and do things that are destructive to our relationship. However hard we try we can't seem to change. It can be chronic and debilitating so we can't even get out of bed!

Meet Me

I am Nathelie - I'm a relationship therapist and an accredited cognitive behavioural therapist (CBT) / hypnotherapist. I can help you fix your relationship anxiety or worries Why am I so sure? Because I have been where you are today. In my 20's, I pushed all the nice guys away - looking for 'the one.' I ended up in the very worst relationship - high-conflict and abusive - I could not get free for years. Once the war zone ended I knew my life had changed. I had to give others the support I didn't have. To heal, I tried many tools and therapies - so I know what doesn't work! I then became an expert is what does work:

  • I'm a cognitive behavioural therapist (CBT) and hypnotherapist. These are the most powerful tools out there to heal anxiety and replace it with confidence and rebuild relationship trust.

  • I'm a mindfulness expert - I have meditated my whole life (vipassana trained). I now teach mindfulness. It is the most powerful path to peace.

  • I'm an expert in narcissistic abuse and resilience - I founded a charity to support those stuck in abusive situations.

  • I'm a conflict expert - I worked as a litigation solicitor in the City.

  • I'm a panic expert and a support worker for a panic helpline supporting anxiety and panic sufferers nationally.

  • I set up the MindFull Practice to give you the most impactful and life changing tools out there to overcome your anxiety and find peace.

Do you want to get rid of your fears and fix your anxiety? Are you ready to build a relationship that works - one that is stronger and lasts longer? Do you want to live a life full of peace not stress? Book my free introductory session online or contact me to arrange a clinic appointment.

Hypnosis is emerging as a powerful medical treatment for pain and anxiety, Research now shows that hypnosis calms brain regions that control heart rate and blood flow and it is so powerful it can replace anesthetic in surgery! It has been show to reinforce therapy work, such as CBT and transforms relationship anxiety quickly and effectively.

Hypnojourneying

Hypnojourneying is used to heal anxiety, depression, PTSD and trauma. It's is a form of emotional regulation work. It's useful when someone can't navigate an emotional block using traditional talk therapies. Hypnojourneying heals doesn't require a deep dive into repressed or past memories.

Peaceful Water View

Did you know mindfulness is not quite the same as meditation? You don't need a mantra or to find extra time in your busy day to sit and meditate. You can do it right now. It quietens the mind, soothes the emotions. Mindfulness helps fix anxiety fast and is the most direct path to finding peace.

  • Do you work with individuals and couples?
I do work with both individuals and couples who are struggling with relationship anxiety, jealousy issues, conflict and emotional disconnection - as well as surrounding mental health issues. I don't work with couples where there is significant abuse. Nor individuals with complex mental health issues, such as schizophrenia. However, if you are seeking couples therapy with me, I require both partners to engage in individual therapy alongside the joint sessions. Combining individual and couples therapy, provides faster and more effective results, ensuring both partners feel heard, valued and empowered in the relationship. Why do individual sessions matter in couples therapy? 🔹 Personal Focus: Relationship struggles aren’t just about dynamics between partners - they are heavily influenced by individual fears, past trauma and the attachment style we bring to the relationship. Each party must be prepared to work on their own issues that challenge the relationship. 🔹 Stronger, More Lasting Change: When each person works on their own triggers and emotional regulation, it leads to healthier communication and deeper connection as a couple. If each person is healing their issues in personal therapy, what do you focus on in couples therapy? 🔹 Focus on Healing the Relationship: We work on healing relationship wounds, rebuilding trust focusing on the positive - and learning acceptance and mindfulness. 🔹 Re-build connection - more love, laughter, joy and affection: Creating a relationship that lasts means building knowledge of each other and committing to creating deeper connections.
  • Do you only offer relationship anxiety therapy?
While my primary focus is relationship anxiety, including divorce anxiety and recovery from narcissistic abuse, I also help clients with related mental health challenges. Many people experiencing relationship anxiety also struggle with: ✅ General anxiety & depression ✅ Addictive or compulsive behaviors ✅ Emotional regulation challenges Because these issues often coexist, my approach addresses both relationship concerns and the underlying emotional patterns that may be contributing to your distress. • What is your therapy approach?
I am an integrative therapist, meaning I combine different evidence-based tools and techniques to create the most effective solution for each client. Not every technique works for everyone. I use what is most effective for you. than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor therapy to fit your specific needs, challenges, and goals. Core Therapy Methods I Use: ✅ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Hypnotherapy → The foundation of my approach, as both are scientifically proven to be the most effective treatments for anxiety, overthinking, and emotional regulation. ✅ Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) → Helps you let go of resistance, accept emotions, and move forward with clarity. ✅ Ego State Theory & IFS 'Parts' Work → Supports deep emotional healing by understanding and integrating different aspects of the self. ✅ Gottman Relationship Tools for Couples→ Research-backed strategies to improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional connection. ✅ Gestalt Techniques → Helps bring awareness to unresolved emotions and relational patterns, often through experiential exercises. ✅ Mindfulness & Emotional Regulation → Teaches present-moment awareness and techniques to manage stress, jealousy, and anxiety triggers. ✅ Hypnojourneying & Visualization → Uses guided imagery and subconscious work to access deep emotional healing and transformation.
  • How long will I be in therapy for?
My therapy approach is different from traditional counselling or psychotherapy - it is short-term, structured, and solutions-focused to help you see results quickly. After this, we will review your progress and decide whether further sessions are needed. Each session lasts 55 minutes, providing focused, effective strategies tailored to your needs. If you choose to continue beyond the initial sessions, we can discuss and adjust your treatment plan at your review session.
